Inmates
The prison inmates line up outside their rooms,
The authorities search for anything wrong,
Say these things could lead to our dooms.
The Inmates wear identification across their chests,
As if they aren't already trapped,
Officers dragging away those who don't comply,
Cant help but wonder who's next.
Does the conversation really end here?
Why haven't we done anything?
New policy changes the atmosphere,
Says its to keep the prisons safer,
So we peg them as some sort of saviors.
Yet you don't see what they're really doing,
Trying to strip us of our rights,
We cant see what potion they're really brewing.
155 million dollars voted in by those who aren't affected,
All that money spent just to claim we are protected,
When in reality they become exactly what Orwell attempted,
To prevent those with authority from becoming something feared.
Safer prisons and corrected inmates doesn't seem all that bad,
Until you realize that we as students are those inmates and our schools are these prisons,
We are the last to realize: we should not be glad,
For the upcoming youth: this treatment is how they'll forever be conditioned.
